What is a wide-angle lens?
A wide-angle lens is a camera lens with a short focal length and a wide angle of view. It allows you to capture a particularly large portion of a scene in the image, making it ideal for subjects where space, surroundings, or perspective play an important role. Typically, focal lengths between about 35 mm and 24 mm (35mm equivalent) are considered wide-angle, while shorter focal lengths fall into the ultra-wide-angle range.
Wide-angle lenses emphasize depth and dynamism in the image. Foreground elements appear larger, while the background recedes further into the distance. This makes them particularly attractive for landscape, architectural, and street photography, as well as for creative close-ups.
TAMRON wide-angle lenses are available for full-frame and APS-C system cameras—with compatible mounts for Canon, Nikon, Sony, and Fujifilm. All models offer high optical performance right down to the corners of the frame.

What types of TAMRON wide-angle lenses are available?
TAMRON offers a variety of wide-angle lenses tailored to different photographic and videographic needs. Depending on focal length range, maximum aperture, and design, you’ll find suitable models—from fast prime lenses for maximum sharpness to flexible zoom lenses for versatile use.
Ultra-wide-angle zooms such as 16-30mm or 11-20mm are particularly well-suited for landscape, architectural, and astrophotography. They combine a wide angle of view with high light intensity.
All-around wide-angle zooms like 20-40mm cover a versatile focal length range. They’re wide enough for selfies, vlogging, and tight spaces, but are also suitable for spontaneous snapshots or photojournalism.
Wide-angle prime lenses such as 20mm or 24mm are designed for photographers who work with precision and seek maximum image quality in a particularly compact format.

Special features
TAMRON wide-angle lenses are designed for demanding applications and combine modern technology with high practicality for everyday use. The BBAR (Broad-Band Anti-Reflection) coating reduces reflections and prevents distracting ghosting or loss of contrast, even in backlit conditions.
Many models are particularly compact and feature a standardized 67mm filter thread. This allows you to use screw-in filters such as ND or polarizing filters across different lenses, which is a major advantage when photographing or filming.
In addition, numerous TAMRON wide-angle lenses offer an extremely short minimum focusing distance. This enables creative perspectives in which foreground elements are particularly emphasized. Fast and quiet autofocus and well-thought-out designs ensure that they can be reliably used for both photography and video recording.
