Features and Functions

Best-in-class* 5 stops** for smooth handheld shooting
Besides Tamron’s original VC (Vibration Compensation) system, the A032 has an MPU dedicated to VC processing, for the highest vibration compensation in its class*, with a CIPA image stabilization level of 5 stops**. Enjoy jitterfree shooting and more flexibility — even in low light.
* Among 24-70mm F/2.8 interchangeable lenses for DSLR cameras (as of May, 2017; Tamron)
** CIPA Standard Compliant. For Canon:EOS-5D MKIII is used. For Nikon:D810 is used.
*** A new control system using two high-performance MPUs (micro-processor units)

All-new control system delivers greater speed and precision
The A032 is equipped with its own MPU (micro-processor unit), with embedded DSP (digital signal processing) blocks that enable high-speed digital signal processing, achieving both excellent responsiveness to signals from the camera and high-precision AF performance.

eBAND Coating reduces ghosting and flare
The A032 features Tamron’s proprietary eBAND(Extended Bandwidth & Angular-Dependency) Coating and BBAR (Broad-Band Anti-Reflection) Coating, to combat ghosting and flare. A nano-structured layer and conventional multiple-layer coatings deliver superior anti-reflection properties.

Keep your lens in line with a built-in lock
The lens hood is equipped with a locking mechanism, which prevents detachment due to unintentional contact during use.
Optional accessories

Compatible with the TAMRON TAP-in Console
The optional TAP-in Console provides a USB connection to your personal computer, enabling you to easily update your lens’s firmware as well as customize features including fine adjustments to the AF and VC.
Additional product features
- DMPU
DMPU (Dual Micro-Processing Unit)
Dual Microprocessing Unit – Lenses with DMPU are characterised by their particularly high performance. The dual processor processes the digital signals from the autofocus and the VC image stabiliser in parallel to achieve razor-sharp image results even in dynamic shooting situations.
- IF
Internal Focusing (IF) System
Internal Focus – Internal focusing prevents the barrel from extending and rotating during focusing. The lens is easier to handle and is suitable for use with polarising or gradation filters.
- ZL
Zoom Lock (ZL) Mechanism
Zoom Lock – The ZL mechanism prevents unwanted extension of the tube during transport. The lock, which is activated by a switch, protects the lens from damage and at the same time guarantees that it is quickly ready for use.
- LD
LD (Low Dispersion)
Low Dispersion – LD elements have particularly low colour dispersion index. They reduce chromatic aberrations that appear as colour fringes on the contrast edges and reduce image sharpness.
- eBAND
eBAND Coating
Extended Bandwidth and Angular Dependency – The eBAND coating consists of an ultra-thin nanostructure (1 nm = 1/1.000.000 mm) with a very low refractive index. In combination with the multi-coating, an outstanding anti-reflective effect is achieved.
- FLR
FLR
Fluorine Coating – Fluorine Coating protects the front lens from contamination. It prevents oil and water droplets from sticking to the surface. Fingerprints and dirt are easier to remove.
- MR
MR
Moisture Resistant Construction – The lens is splash-resistant. All critical areas have special seals. Lenses with this feature are ideal for outdoor use in bad weather.
- USD
USD (Ultrasonic Silent Drive)
Ultrasonic Silent Drive – Ultrasonic autofocus motors are usually found in high-quality DSLR lenses. USD technology converts ultrasonic waves into torque and eliminates the need for gearing between the motor and the focus unit. This guarantees precise, fast and silent focusing, which can be manually intervened in at any time.
- VC
VC (Vibration Compensation)
Vibration Compensation – TAMRON-developed image stabilisation that compensates for unwanted camera movement for sharper images. Shutter speeds of up to 5 EV stops slower are possible with the VC image stabiliser.
- SP
Super Performance
Superior Performance – The abbreviation "SP" stands for DSLR lenses that meet the highest photographic demands. Advanced optical technologies guarantee outstanding imaging performance. The lenses are also characterised by their robust design and intuitive operation.
