Measuring just 79.6mm (3.2in) in length, weighing a mere 305g (10.8oz),² and featuring a φ55mm filter size, it is the essential "Go-To Zoom." This streamlined build minimizes the burden during travel or outdoor activities, while carefully selected barrel materials, including metal, and an ingenious internal design ensure high structural rigidity for reliable shooting anywhere.

This lens defies its compact size by delivering a constant fast F2.8 aperture throughout the entire zoom range starting at 16mm wide. The exceptional optical design offers a beautiful combination of soft bokeh and sharp rendering, effortlessly highlighting your subject for deeply expressive images. The bright F2.8 also enables faster shutter speeds in low-light settings, such as indoors or at dusk, to effectively suppress motion blur when capturing active children or fast-moving amusement park rides.

The Sony E-mount and Nikon Z mount versions support TAMRON Lens UtilityTM, * allowing users to assign practical functions for videography.
*The CANON RF mount version currently supports only firmware updates (as of September 2026). The FUJIFILM X mount version is incompatible with TAMRON Lens Utility.
