Natural World Photography Workshop with Professional Photographer Jürgen Müller

With Tamron in "Sächsischer Schweiz"

No need for a really good photo to be always exactly focussed! – That may sound a little strange. However this will be less surprising after having been on the latest Tamron Workshop in the Sächsischer Schweiz National Park. For three days the 13 participants had every opportunity of looking over the shoulder of professional photographer Jürgen Müller.

The numerous bizarre rock formations and rugged yet romantic valleys of Sächsische Schweiz have been a favourite setting for painters and photographers alike for centuries. The natural beauty of the region even inspired romantic painter Caspar David Friedrich (1774–1840) into producing some marvellous paintings.

It thus comes as no surprise to learn that natural landscape photography was also the theme of the Tamron Workshop. One of the highlights was rambling throughout the day through the rugged, romantic Edmundsklamm and seeing the world famous Prebisch Gate - the largest natural sandstone bridge in Europe.

The learning objectives included histogram-based photography, time/shutter combination and pictorial design. The participants from all over Germany also learned the things to be heeded when taking photos at twilight and which equipment to use for successful shots.

Long exposure times with a wiping effect produced a "wow" from a number of those taking part. Great abstract effects can, in fact, be obtained by evenly swinging the camera vertically during the exposure. At the end the tenor of those participating was unanimous: "A very instructive workshop where we learned about how to handle our own cameras and a lot about pictorial design.

The workshop formed part of the 2013 Tamron Academy More workshops are already being planned for 2014 including again a workshop in Sächsischer Schweiz. Some of the dates are as follows
