Notice about compatibility with Canon EOS M5 and Tamron 18-200mm F/3.5-6.3 Di III VC (Model B011EM)

Dear users and potential purchasers of Tamron interchangeable lenses, thank you for using Tamron products.

We have learned that, when attaching the Tamron 18-200mm F/3.5-6.3 Di III VC (Model B011EM) to the Canon EOS M5 the camera power is turned off or is not turned on, making it impossible to use this combination.

We sincerely apologize to all users and potential purchasers for any inconvenience the issue may cause.

An investigation is currently underway in detail about the connections between the Canon EOS M5 and the Tamron 18-200mm F/3.5-6.3 Di III VC (Model B011EM), and as soon as we know more we will post a notice on this Tamron website.


Firmware update available for SP 90mm F/2.8 Di MACRO1:1 VC USD (Model F017) for Canon

Dear users and potential purchasers of Tamron interchangeable lenses. Thank you for using Tamron products.

We wish to notify you regarding the availability of a firmware update for our SP 90mm F/2.8 Di MACRO1:1 VC USD (Model F017) for Canon.

Affected models

Serial numbers

A firmware update will not be required for lenses with these serial numbers.

Improvements

1. When used in combination with the Canon EOS 5D Mark IV, behavior where the camera takes several seconds to start up when first switched on after mounting the lens has been improved.
2. When used in combination with the Canon EOS 5D Mark IV, behavior where power consumption was high with the lens mounted and where the camera’s battery charge would continue to drain even when the camera was switched off and stowed with the lenses mounted has been improved.

How to update the firmware

1. The firmware can be updated using the TAP-in Console (sold separately).

2. For those who do not own a TAP-in Console and require firmware update service, please contact your local Tamron distributor for more details.

A notice regarding compatibility issue with the EOS 5D Mark IV and availability of firmware update service (About AF functions on Live View mode)

Dear users and potential purchasers of Tamron interchangeable lenses for Canon. Thank you for using Tamron products.
We wish to notify you that the AF functions of the following interchangeable lenses for Canon, which have been produced before May 11th, 2015 and have not updated firmware when there were the firmware update service announcements below, do not function in Live View mode when used on the EOS 5D Mark IV which went on sale on September 8th, 2016 in Japan.

Termination notice of our offer of the complimentary “SILKYPIX Developer Studio 4.0 for Tamron”

Dear users and potential purchasers of Tamron interchangeable lenses.

Thank you for using Tamron products. Since November 2012, we have included in the package of some Tamron products “SILKYPIX Developer Studio 4.0 for Tamron,” a complimentary RAW processing software program exclusively for Tamron’s SP lens models. We would like to inform our customers that this complimentary offer will be terminated as of June 30, 2016.

If you have already installed “SILKYPIX Developer Studio 4.0 for Tamron,” you can continue using the software program. We would like to inform our customers that any new installations of the program (including replacements of any personal computers for which installation and authentication is necessary) will only be possible until June 30, 2019.

* There are no plans for any additional data related to any cameras or lenses or for any version upgrades.

Starting on July 1, 2016, purchasing certain Tamron products will enable customers to buy “Adobe Creative Cloud Photography Plan” at a special price.

To our customers using the relevant Tamron products and/or SILKYPIX, we would cordially like to ask for your understanding.

Serial numbers

Firmware update will not be required for lenses with the serial numbers in this list.

Improvements

  1. You will now be able to use TAP-in Console (optional and sold separately) with the lens products above. (for Nikon and Canon)
  2. Whereas the issue of the exposure becoming unstable under certain particular conditions when using these lenses with either the Canon EOS-1D X Mark II or EOS 80D camera has been reported in some cases, the lens firmware updating will improve for this issue. (for Canon)

A notice regarding compatibility issues with the EOS 5Ds and the EOS 5DsR, and availability of firmware update service

Dear users and potential purchasers of Tamron interchangeable lenses for Canon cameras.

Thank you for being a valued customer of Tamron products.

We have learned that the AF of the following interchangeable lenses for Canon do not function in Live View mode when used on the EOS 5Ds and EOS 5DsR which went on sale on June 18 in Japan.

We sincerely apologize to all users and potential purchasers for any inconvenience the issue may cause.

Firmware update service is already available as this is the same case when EOS 760D and the EOS 750D were released. Also, the Model A011 with the latest firmware for panning shot treatment is compatible and functions properly with these new cameras.
