In its 60-year company history, Tamron has always been committed to quality lens construction. Already in 1961 the first worldwide industrially made quality zoom lens, a 95-205mm originated in Tamron factories. There are legendary constructions like the 1:1 macro 90 mm, which has been available in several steadily improved variations for over 30 years. The constant striving for improvements is in our very own interest. With our SP (Super performance) lens series we have set this concern a special concept.

What is special about SP lenses?

Super Performance  means „ultra high performance“ and is the expression of a  construction philosophy. It is the result of ongoing innovative ideas and the use of best materials to guarantee a high customer satisfaction.

Super Performance lenses convince with their optical and mechanical quality.

This already begins in the design phase. First the construction is developed with the most modern computer programs and then its efficiency is simulated extensively. Alone with the specification as an SP lens, the engineers face big challenges.

This process goes along with the choice of the materials and the definition of the manufacturing processes. Innovative glass types and high-tech plastics used in aircraft construction are processed in highly modern, computer-controlled production processes with extremely low manufacturing tolerances.
