In 1992 Tamron introduced the first 28-200mm (model 71D), the first generation of the mega zoom type. The current 28-200mm (Model A031) stands in this long tradition. The lens uses innovative glass elements such as XR (extra Refractive index) and aspherical lenses. The result is a noteworthy light and compact product. Compared to its predecessor the stray light behavior was improved by means of an innovative multi-coating. The lens delivers excellent picture quality with both digital APS-C and full-frame SLRs. On travels this lens is a priceless all-in-one partner, because the focal length range covers most photographic situations, including macro-photography. With full- frame cameras this universal zoom marks a new standard which extends the focal length range of customary standard lenses substantially.
The designation “Di” (Digitally Integrated Design) marks a generation of lenses, which have been specially adapted to the higher requirements of digital SLR cameras (APS-C and full frame).
Please note: The Nikon mount is only compatible in the MF mode with the following Nikon cameras: D40, D40X and D60. This is due to fact that these 3 cameras require lenses with a built-in motor. The Nikon version of this lens does not have a built-in motor.
