European Guarantee Card

Because each nation within the EU implemented its own law on the basis of a EU directive, there is no uniform result within the EU in terms of warranty. In Germany consumers have a legal of warranty of 24 months.  A fault which becomes apparent within six months of the delivery of the goods is to be presumed to have existed at the time of delivery. This means that the consumer has a maximum of six months to establish that the goods do not conform to the contract. Further, the burden of proof is on the buyer.

We decided to keep our one year manufacturer warranty even after 2002. As of 01.01.2008 the 12 month European guarantee card (see sample) has replaced the international guarantee card, in order to meet the requirements of the linguistic diversity in Europe.  The card is included in each Tamron lens bought from an authorized dealer.

Tamron Repair Regulation

1. A lens which was legally imported into the EU will always contain a European warranty card in its package. The box could also possibly include a local warranty card from the respective distributor in your country (please contact the respective distributor in your country or dealer for the exact conditions).

2. If you as an individual import a lens from outside the EU for your own personal (non-commercial) use, this lens will not be considered a grey market lens. In this case it is necessary to request an international warranty card from the dealer where you bought your lens or from the distributor in that respective country.

3. Should you own a Tamron lens without a European warranty card or a local warranty card, please contact the dealer where you bought the lens if it requires servicing.

4. Should no warranty card be included in the package of the lens that you bought or the card differs from the sample shown, we suggest that you return the lens to the dealer.

5. Please note! Tamron is not obliged to repair a lens which was illegally imported into the European Union (see also: Grey market).
